More private property damage has occurred in Union Bay after resident Mary Reynolds’ car was vandalized on July 9. This follows an earlier vandalism incident that damaged Reynolds’ car and home in the early hours of June 23.

Around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, Reynolds says someone spray painted a vulgar word on her car and her windshield was smashed.
Video footage that Reynolds posted on her blog shows a man dressed in all black appearing to tamper with a security camera attached to her home. She posted on her blog asking if anyone recognizes him, and has reached out to RCMP regarding this vandalism incident and the one prior.
It is unclear whether or not these cases are linked to Reynolds’ blog All Things Union Bay, where she has criticized Deep Water Recovery’s shipbreaking operation in the past. Reynolds alleges on her blog that the company has something to do with the vandalism, though this has not been confirmed.
“There is only one company that has consistently shown aggression towards me for the last two years — Deep Water Recovery ship breaking. I don’t think it takes much to imagine Deep Water Recovery being responsible for the ongoing attacks on my home and vehicle,” she said.
Reynolds recently partially won a legal battle against Deep Water Recovery. The company attempted to sue her for damages related to drone footage she posted of the controversial operation.
In a statement sent to CHEK News about the June 23 incident, Deep Water Recovery’s owner said “Mary Reynolds is a person that has caused a lot of trouble for a lot of people. It’s not surprising,” and added that she “has made a career out of causing tremendous trouble for decent hardworking people.”
The Discourse reached out to Deep Water Recovery for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication.
The Discourse also reached out to RCMP about any details regarding these incidents or to learn if they are being investigated and how, but did not hear back by time of publication.
